I have taken students out to draw or paint the windmill many times, and we always do the "front side", meaning just the windmill and blades. For me, though, the real beauty and power of the mill is the long "telephone pole" and wheel attached to the back that helps to move the top of the mill so it can face the wind. Getting the stretch of that pole, and the power of the wheel, was the challenge for me.
