Musician Portraits
Jonathan Richman, the famous New England balladeer, did a benefit concert on Nantucket. I was asked to create this print for the event. I wanted to show Jonathan as a figurehead of a ship because his music has always been ahead of it's time, yet somehow always timeless. His song "Roadrunner" that he wrote as leader of the legendary Modern Lovers, was the first song every band from my generation learned. He inspired probably thousands of bands to form. With that alone, his influence is incalculable.
