This is a great huge old oak tree at the 79th ast entrance to Central Park whose branches go on an on in all directions. It's quite remarkable that the tree can hold up these huge heavy branches. I love how oak tree branches create these wonderful twisting, swirling patterns. I was also inspired by Mondrian's early abstrations of trees, and Joan Mitchell's organic abstractions. I drew the main branches as realistic as I could and then just let my mind wander as I drew the smaller branches to see where they would go.
